Caitlin Clark Signs A Record Eight-Year, $28 Million Deal With Nike

Caitlin Clark, the most hyped women’s basketball player on the planet, added another feather to her cap by signing a landmark deal with Nike.

As per the latest reports, Caitlin Clark has accepted an eight-year, $28 million deal with Nike. The landmark deal also includes a signature shoe for Caitlin Clark. However, Caitlin CLark’s management agency hasn’t responded to requests for confirmation. However, The Athletic and Wall Street Journal have confirmed the news. 

Caitlin Clark’s deal is the largest for a women’s basketball player

Caitlin Clark didn’t just land a large deal, she landed the largest-ever deal in women’s basketball history. Caitlin Clark’s base salary as the first pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft is $76,535. Her massive Nike deal will give her a big income boost.

Caitlin Clark is the fourth women’s basketball player to get a signature shoe

Caitlin Clark joins the elite company of Sabrina Ionescu (Nike), Breanna Stewart (Puma), and Elena Delle Donne (Nike) as the WNBA players who have signature shoes. Sabrina Ionescu signed a $24 million deal with Nike in 2020, but her deal was amended later on and she is expected to receive less when her deal expires in 2025. 

Numerous brands pursued Caitlin Clark

According to numerous reports, Nike wasn’t the only brand in the fray to land Caitlin Clark. Adidas and Puma were some of the other brands in the mix. However, Nike’s eight-year duration and signature shoe promise were the main reasons Clark signed with them.

Caitlin Clark is set to wear Nike in three Olympic Games

Since Caitlin Clark’s deal starts in 2024, she will end up wearing Nike for at least three Olympic Games in the future. Even though the 2024 US Women’s Basketball roster hasn’t been decided, Caitlin Clark is almost certain to make it. Even though Caitlin Clark missed the USA Basketball training camp because she was playing in the NCAA Final Four, her play in the WNBA will serve as a tryout for the US Team. 

Caitlin Clark already has a NIL deal with Nike

Caitlin Clark had already made much money with Nike via her NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal with the brand. Aside from Nike, Caitlin Clark is also signed with brands like State Farm, Gatorade, Buick, and Bose.

Caitlin Clark’s star power is truly mighty. Millions of people tuned in to watch Iowa games during Clark’s tenure with the team. Regular season tickets for Iowa games were sold for as much as $1,000 because of Clark’s play. Caitlin Clark’s jerseys are hard to find as well. After she was drafted first overall by the Indian Fever, Caitlin Clark’s jersey was sold out instantaneously.
