What Led To Adele’s Incredible Weight Loss?

Adele’s weight loss journey has been shocking the world since late 2019! This year, the star addressed her weight loss openly on SNL, but she was on her way to shedding pounds since 2016!

31 year old singer Adele has lost ‘100lbs’ and transformed her body thanks to a series of savvy lifestyle changes.

She was photographed recently wearing a short floral dress on a Carribean holiday with James Corden and Harry Styles, the mother-of-one looked happy and healthy as she frolicked around in the ocean. She even stopped to talk to fans and sat that she’s lost around a 100 pounds and that it’s such a crazy positive experience.  One such fan, Lexi Larson told People magazine the 31 year old singer “seemed really confident” as she chatted to her at Blanchards beach shack.

If you’re wondering how Adele had such a drastic weight loss, know that it began over the past 12 months. She is believed to have lost three stone thanks to a strict regime of healthy eating, reformer pilates, using weights in the gym, and cutting down on sugar.

The singer may have motivated herself to  shed the pounds since she announced her divorce. Mum-of-one Adele had shocked the world recently as the famously curvy star has shed the pounds following her divorce from Simon Konecki, who is the father of her young son.

The couple went public with their split in April and rumours were floating about she had started dating her long-time pal Skepta. Adele and Simon sadly split in April 2019, with Adele revealing she had filed for divorce in September 2019.

After adopting a healthier lifestyle (primarily to heal her voice), the British star continued to make waves with her dramatic weight loss of 100lbs. But her friends have also said that Adele spurred to make a change purely because she wanted to ‘treat her body better’. She ultimately wanted to be a healthier mum to her seven-year-old boy. Having defiantly refused to lose weight for anyone other than herself, the inspirational 31 year old first started improving what she ate after the birth of her son Angelo in 2012.

We can say that the efforts were worth it because she’s loving life and was photographed spending time with pals Harry Styles and James Corden on holiday in Anguilla.

Adele Weight Loss History:

2008

Shedding the pounds has never been a priority for Adele who has always insisted that she isn’t at all “insecure” about her appearance after shooting to fame in 2008.

She even revealed that she’d refuse to work with anybody who had an issue with her size, telling People magazine at the time: “Even when I was signing a contract, most of the industry knew if anyone ever dared say: ‘Lose weight’ to me, they wouldn’t be working with me.”

2009

She showed similar spirit in 2009, telling the Daily Mail: “I can’t be a product; no one can do that to me. I have all the say; I have power over everything I do.” We think this is more about her fight for wanting to change when you really want to, not because your boss or the media is telling you to.

2011

In 2011, for the sake of her voice, Adele  ditched the 10 cups of sugary tea she used to drink each day and waved goodbye to alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine and all “spicy, citrusy, and tangy” foods.

“It’s f***ing boring, but I don’t think you take your voice seriously until you’ve an accident,” she told Australia’s 60 Minutes of her 2011 vocal hemorrhage. “I’m frightened all the time I’m going to damage my voice,” she admitted.

2012

In 2012, Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld body shammed Adele as “a little too fat”, with the defiant singer replying at the time that she is “very proud” of her appearance, adding: “Weight has nothing to do with my career.”

Having defiantly refused to lose weight for anyone other than herself, the inspirational 31 year old first started improving what she ate after the birth of her son Angelo in 2012.

2014

In 2014, Adele may have allegedly first sought help from celebrity hypnotherapist Susan Hepburn in 2014 to kick her smoking habit.

The famed weight loss through hypnotherapy expert is reported to have helped everyone from Jennifer Aniston, Nigella Lawson and Lily Allen shift pounds over the years.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Susan refused to comment on whether Adele came to her for help – but she did stress that her hypnotherapy and psychotherapy treatments has helped clients lose a staggering amount of weight. Insisting that her treatments are “not a diet” but instead a “change of mindset.”

The expert said: “I change my clients’ mindset to boost their self-esteem. They just lose the emotional hole that makes them think of food the whole time,” as she described her process.  According to the NHS, hypnotherapy works to treat conditions (such as sleep problems or anxiety) and break habits (i.e. smoking or binge-eating) by putting clients into a deeply relaxed state and challenging their behaviour.

When that is combined with psychotherapy, Susan gets her celeb clients to figure out their “storyline” which repeatedly causes them to gain weight. She added: “I go into your brain and find out what’s making you eat all this food if you don’t want to and I delete those defective files under hypnosis.” On top of this, Susan then gets her clients to imagine their perfect body – whether than be “tiny waist” or toned arms – on a daily basis to make it seem more achievable.

The hypnotherapist is also reported to have helped Lily Allen drop from a size 14 to size 8 in the late noughties. Jennifer Aniston, 50, is another celeb who is thought to have turned to Susan for help maintaining her trim figure while Nigella Lawson, 60, is reported to have been a client after she slimmed down to a size 12 in 2017.

Insisting that her hypnosis treatment teaches celebs to consume “everything in moderation”, Susan added: “Moderation means finding that stop button.”

2016

Adele had shed yet more weight ahead of her tour in a bid to “get some stamina”

2017

By 2017 Adele has a weight loss of  more than two stone, reportedly due to implementing a second change called The Sirtfood Diet.

The food programme sees slimmers fill up on plant-based foods like kale, buckwheat, green tea and turmeric. Such foods are known as sirtuin activators, and are said to control the way the body processes fat and sugar and regulate the appetite in the process. Green tea and cocoa powder, red wine and cheese are also included in this diet.

2019

The 31-year-old — who filed for divorce from her husband in September 2019 — was spotted in a black dress, striking a pose outside the Hollywood bash Wednesday. Drake had his party at Goya Studios and attendees included celebs such as Snoop Dogg, Kylie Jenner and French Montana.

Adele and her husband of 7 years, Simon Konecki had announced that they were splitting up in April 2019 but said they’d work together to lovingly raise their son together. It wasn’t until September when Adele filed divorce docs in L.A.  Initially they had kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight since starting to date back in the summer of 2011. Adele had given birth to their son, Angelo, in October 2012 and they tied the knot in a very secret ceremony but she didn’t confirm the union until 2017. Talk about top secret!

But coming back to Drake’s party,  it was an old-school mafia themed party and continued into the early hours of the night and the topic of conversation that day: Adele’s weight loss.

2020

It’s Jan 2020 and Adele is believed to have lost 3st, Proud of her new amazing toned figure, the Hello hitmaker slipped into a flirty floral number for her low-key day at the beach.

Adele Weight Loss Diet:

Adele’s new look is apparently primarily down to her diet. Her former personal trainer has credited Adele’s weight loss to an ‘intense’ diet half the size of the daily recommended allowance and green smoothies. Camilla Goodis, branded as the ‘Brazilian Body Wizard’ guided Adele at the start of her weight loss and believes that Adele’s new figure is down to an intense regime that recommended calorie intake to just 1,000 calories a day. Speaking from LA for Lorraine, the trainer said: ‘She looks amazing, she changed her lifestyle, she changed her diet.

‘I believe now she’s into working out, she’s working out more and more but, it’s 90% what she did was diet. ‘There’s no secret, I didn’t help with any diet. She started doing this certain diet and now she’s maintaining just eating healthy.’ ‘It’s a good diet to shed the weight,’ Camilla said: ‘The first week is pretty intense – it’s a lot of green juice, and 1,000 calories a day.’

But as with all questions about weight, Camilla acknowledges that Adele has come under fire, and explained: ‘There are some critics saying “oh now she looks too thin”. No! She looks fantastic. ‘And before, “she needs to be careful, she looks too much” – You can never win, and that’s sad.’

If you are wondering what the diet is called, it is The Sirtfood Diet.

The Sirtfood Diet comes from the UK as nutritionists Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten had published a guide and a recipe book in 2016. The diet focuses on sirtuins which are the proteins in your body that specialize in cellular health and metabolism, among other things. Sirtuins can be found in foods like kale, buckwheat, matcha, blueberries, extra-virgin olive oil, and arugula. Such foods are supposed to boost muscle growth because they activate people’s “skinny gene,” which allegedly mimics the effects of diet and exercise. The menu’s sweet surprises include red wine, coffee and dark chocolate. Meat is not a sirtuin.

The diet’s flashiest claim to fame is that it can help you lose up to seven pounds in a week, Matten told The Post. But it’s no cakewalk: For the first three days, eaters restrict their intake to only 1,000 calories a day — one sirtuin-packed meal and two green juices. That gets bumped up to 1,500 calories for the following four days when an additional meal is allowed. After that week, dieters can eat as many sirtfood meals as they like. Daily exercise is also recommended on the diet.

But other health experts aren’t so convinced. Manhattan-based registered dietitian Martha McKittrick recently told The Post that she thinks the diet is “sketchy.” And Grace Fjeldberg, a registered dietitian at the Mayo Clinic, added, “Not everyone will see Adele-like results.”

Adele Weight Loss Workout:

Adele hired LA ‘body wizard’ pilates instructor Camila Goodis who she met through working with Piers Morgan’s wife Celia Walden. She is also said to have shed the pounds by working out with US trainer Dalton Wong, who also trains her friend Jennifer Lawrence – and following Joe Wicks’s Body Coach plan. A source told The Sun: “Adele’s been secretly working with these personal trainers. “She’s not the sort to exercise in front of others, so she follows regimes and plans at home, using their videos and tutorials.”

When Adele introduced us to her incredible weight loss at Drake’s birthday party in October, news of her weight loss went viral.  The internet became aware of Adele’s weight loss in October, when Adele sent shock waves through her public appearance at Drake’s birthday party. She addressed her new fitness regime with a photo captioned: “I used to cry but now I sweat”.

And despite Adele’s dedication, she has refreshingly admitted that she will never, ever, relish going to the gym.

“I mainly moan. I’m not, like, skipping to the f-cking gym. I don’t enjoy it,” she told Rolling Stone in 2016. “I do like doing weights. I don’t like looking in the mirror. Blood vessels burst on my face really easily, so I’m so conscious when I’m lifting weights not to let them burst in my face. And if I don’t tour, you’ll catch me back down at the Chinese!”

People Also Wonder:

How did Adele lose weight?

In January, People reported that Adele lost weight by following a strict diet that was flexible enough to allow red wine and chocolate. This is the sirtfood diet, a meal plan she was also linked to after she lost weight in 2016

But there’s more to the story:

“Her weight loss happened because she has cut down drinking and is eating more real food,” a source said. “But she now loves her physical transformation too. She is more confident, dresses differently, and she just seems happier overall.”

Did Adele lose weight a lot?

Fans took notice of her tip-top shape after her stint hosting “SNL.”  Rumour has it that Adele has lost an incredible 7st in total, over the course of her music career.

“I know I look really, really different since you last saw me,” she joked during her opening monologue. “But actually because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and I could only bring half of me, and this is the half I chose.”

How quickly did Adele lose weight?

The Brit reportedly lost nearly 40 to 50 pounds after hiring a personal trainer and following a diet program four years ago. Please keep in mind that the singer hasn’t confirmed any of this.

What is Adele’s new diet?

Rumour has it that Adele followed the “sirtfood” diet, which consists of eating foods that boost a protein called sirtuin. Foods like blueberries, strawberries, turmeric, walnuts, onions, green tea, and even red wine and dark chocolate are eaten. Sirtuins can also be found in foods like buckwheat, matcha,  kale, extra-virgin olive oil, and arugula.

What fans think of the ex-plus size singer now:

Adele’s incredible transformation has received a mixed response from fans!  Her new slimmer figure sparked a debate among fans who fear she may have lost too much weight after previously being praised and famous for her natural curves.

“Wait Adele looks way too skinny here should we get worried?” one fan asked on Twitter as images of the singer on holiday surfaced.

However other fans are furiously defending the singer – applauding her new figure and warning other fans to leave her alone.

“Adele looks happier than ever holidaying with Harry Styles and James Corden and y’all want to either body shame her for being too skinny or fetishise her for it. Just leave her unproblematic a** alone,” one fan snapped on Twitter.

While another noted: “Twitter 2011-2016: ‘Adele needs to lose some weight. She’s too big and it’s unhealthy and I’m worried about her.’ Twitter 2020: ‘Adele needs to eat more.

“She’s too skinny and lost too much weight and it’s unhealthy and I’m worried about her’,” alongside rolling eyes emojis.
