Gakuen Mokushiroku Haisukūru obu za Deddo (2010)

‘Gakuen Mokushiroku Haisukūru obu za Deddo’ or ‘High School of the Dead’ is another great harem anime. This show is a thematic amalgamation of harem anime and zombie apocalypse anime. The story is set in present era Japan where a deadly outbreak of a pandemic has turned people into zombies. The zombies are referred to as ‘Them’ by the characters. One day while he was coming from an office visit he gets into a minor accident with the beautiful Urara Shiraishi and they fall down the stairs. They accidentally end up kissing. To their surprise, it turns out that they can swap bodies with a kiss. This becomes a regular phenomenon for them. Soon, another student finds their secret and forces them to join his supernatural club. The club then begins a quest to find the identity of the remaining witches of Suzaku High whose powers unlock with a kiss. The romance between Ryuu and Urara is also quite entertaining.

High School DxD (2012)

How can a list of the best harem animes ever be complete without High School DxD. The show’s plot follows the life of a man turned devil who goes on to become a harem king. Hyoudou Issei dies after an unfortunate encounter with a fallen angel. Then he is brought back to life by Rias Gremory, a devil whom he finds naked in his room. Then she goes on to tell him that she has reincarnated him as a devil and she commands him completely.

Mayo Chiki! (2011)

‘Mayo Chiki!’ is another great harem anime. Even though the plot is basic, but it is still extremely entertaining. The spotlight of the show firmly falls on Subaru Konoet. The anime features some nice funny scenes which are bound to make anybody laugh. The anime consists of 13 total episodes which are 24 minutes long each.

Kinjirou Sakamachi is the main character of ‘Mayo Chiki!’. He is the guy for whom every beautiful girl in the anime will eventually fall for. Kinjirou is quite powerful and his body is resistant to physical attack. He developed that strength and resistance to physical attack because his mother and sister were huge wrestling fans who always attacked him at home. They punched him, kicked him, and even put him in various locks and submission positions. This physical abuse has taken a toll on Kinjirou and he has become a gynophobe (someone who is afraid of women). Thus, whenever a girl touches him he experiences severe nose bleeds and at times becomes unconscious.

One day he discovers the true identity of Subaru Konoe, butler to the daughter (Kanade Suzutsuki) of the headmaster, who has been going around cross-dressing as a boy. Subaru beats up Kinjirou who then faints. He wakes up and Kanade tells him to maintain the secret. She promises to help cure his gynophobia in return.

Hayate no Gotoku! (2007)

‘Hayate no Gotoku!’ is a very nice harem anime. The series is 52 episodes long (24 minutes each) and it does have entertaining moments. However, the show can be a little draggy at times. This show would’ve definitely been a lot better if it was shorter and didn’t have so much filler material. But it is still entertaining overall and thus earns a spot on this list. Hayate Ayasaki is the protagonist of the anime. He has been unlucky for a long time and has been working since he was a child. This was because his parents were irresponsible human beings and Hayate did all he could to run the household. But his parents end up duping him. After leaving Hayate with a monstrols 150 million debt, they flee. The money belongs to the Yakuza who decide to sell his organs. Hayate flees and mNagi eets Sanzenin, who happens to be the heir to a large amount of wealth. Hayate saves her from some kidnappers which make Nagi fall in love with Hayate. She also recruits him as her new butler.

Sekirei (2008)

‘Sekirei’ is a fantasy/harem genre anime created by Sakurako Gokurakuin. This show is filled with sexy and buxom beauties in the form of ‘Sekirei’ humanoid creatures with special abilities. To awaken the remaining of their hidden powers, they need to enter into a contract or rather form a bond with people who have the special gene known as ‘Ashikabi’ gene. Guess what they do to form the bond. Nope! It’s not as dirty as you think. They need to kiss the said humans. Minato possesses the aforementioned ashikabi gene. He stumbles upon a beautiful Serikei, Musubi, who forms a contract with him. But this puts him in danger as he now has to fight in a competition against other Serikei.

Rozario to Banpaia (2008)

‘Rozario to Banpaia’ is another great harem anime. The name of the anime means ‘Rosario and Vampire’. It is a harem anime which is also a comedy anime. A high school filled with beautiful, dangerous girls? Sign me in. This is the plot of ‘Rozario to Banpaia’ where Tsukune Aono enrols in Youkai Academy, a faculty for monsters learning to exist alongside humans, having not gotten into other schools. ‘To LOVEru -Toraburu-’ is another great harem anime for you to watch. This anime is of the romcom/harem genre. Here we’ve Rito Yuki who cannot confess his love to the gorgeous Haruna Sairenji. Nothing unusual so far but things spice up eventually. The harem anime features Lala, who is a runaway alien princess, trying to get away from her suitors who are trying to marry her. As he progresses in his adventure, he starts attracting many women and goddesses.

Infinite Stratos (2011)

‘Infinite Stratos’ is created by Izuru Yumizuru. This harem anime also features strong rom-com/sci fi themes. It’s incredible how this anime just spins a seemingly normal plot into a harem in only a snap. This anime is about within the future which sees the creation of a strong exoskeleton referred to as ‘Infinite Stratos’. Since its capabilities are far too advanced and powerful it has been decided that the technology must be divided among countries equally. The women dominate the society as they are the only ones with the technical know how to operate the armour. The show’s protagonist, Ichika Orimura, is the only male who can operate the armour. So he has to study in an all female school in order to learn how to operate the ‘Infinite Stratos’.

Seiken Tsukai no Wārudo Bureiku (2015)

‘Seiken Tsukai no Wārudo Bureiku’ or ‘World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman’ is a great fantasy/harem anime. The anime is set in a world where monsters, referred to as metaphysical attack humans, dominate the society. Humans with special powers train strictly in order to defend themselves against their monsters. Akane Academy is where these people train. Moroha Haimura is a unique saviour who still has memories of his past two lives and thus has powers of two sorts of saviours. He finishes up meeting two girls from his past life; one who was his sister and one who was his wife. The matters get complicated as both girls start seeking his attention.

Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari (2009)

The plot of the harem anime ‘Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari’ follows the adventures of Kenshi Masaki who has been transported to an alternate world referred to as Geminar. This world is unstable because the countries are at war and therefore the main weapons are Sacred Mechanoids. Kenshi is sent on assassination mission to kill Lashara, the empress of the Shtrayu empire. But at the last moment, Kenshi decides against it and is captured. Lashara later takes an interest in him and lets him travel together with her as an attendant. He goes on to join a school with many beautiful girls who are learning how to use mechanoids.
